Childcare Chef | Lucas

At Journey Early Learning Lucas, we know that great food helps children learn, grow and thrive. We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Chef who can bring creativity and care to every meal, making our kitchen the heart of the centre.

About you
You love experimenting in the kitchen, have a passion for nutrition and sustainability, and enjoy involving children in the joy of food. You’re a team player who values strong relationships with educators, children and families.

What you’ll need

• Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
• Commercial Cookery Certificate (preferred)
• A commitment to providing healthy, balanced meals for children of all ages
• Current First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis certificates

The role
This is a permanent part-time role Monday to Friday | 7:30am to 3:30pm. You’ll plan and prepare a variety of meals and snacks each day, always with children’s health, safety and enjoyment at the centre.

Day to day, you’ll:

• Bring Journey’s values of connection, communication and consideration into your work
• Create menus that are nutritious, budget-conscious and family-informed
• Ensure every plate is appealing and inviting for children
• Follow food safety, hygiene and compliance procedures
• Cater for allergies and special dietary needs with care
• Lead and support other kitchen staff with confidence and kindness
