IT Support Technician (Service Desk & Field Services)

Full-time | Hybrid (Brisbane)
Join a purpose‑driven organisation shaping the future of early learning

Are you ready to play a crucial role in empowering educators and ensuring the technology behind high‑quality early learning runs seamlessly?

At Journey Early Learning, our work begins with creating safe, secure, and homely environments where children feel welcome, curious, and inspired. Behind every exceptional early learning experience is a team of support professionals who make this possible — including IT.

We’re seeking an IT Support Technician (Service Desk & Field Services) to join our internal IT team, supporting a growing national network of childcare centres and support offices. This role is perfect for someone who loves solving problems, helping people, and working with modern cloud‑based technologies.

Why Journey?

At Journey, our purpose and values guide everything we do — from how we support children to how we support each other.

Our Values

  • Connection: We nurture authentic relationships with children, families, communities, and one another — always connected to our “why.”
  • Consideration: We make respectful, thoughtful choices that support our environment, ourselves, and each other.
  • Communication: We engage with clarity, consistency, and collaboration in every interaction.

Our Standards

Our environments — physical and operational — are intentional, consistent, and designed to elevate both learning and professional practice. These standards also apply to how our internal teams support centres, ensuring educators can focus on what matters most.

Our Ecosystem Approach

Every Journey centre is surrounded by a multidisciplinary support ecosystem — including IT — ensuring our teams never work in isolation.

This is your opportunity to be part of that ecosystem, helping us create the best possible outcomes for children, families, and our people.

About the Role

Based at our QLD Support Office near Skygate (Brisbane Airport), this full‑time hybrid role blends remote Level 1 & 2 technical support with occasional on‑site field services across our centres nationwide.

You will gain hands-on experience with:

  • Microsoft 365 & Azure
  • Modern endpoint management
  • Ubiquiti networking
  • Cloud-first systems and device environments

You’ll join a small, supportive, high-performing IT team where continuous learning and improvement are valued and encouraged.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Level 1 & Level 2 support via phone, email, remote tools, and in-person assistance.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and system issues efficiently.
  • Investigate problems using structured, root-cause‑focused troubleshooting.
  • Own technical issues end-to-end, ensuring proactive communication with users.
  • Assist with device deployment, configuration, and replacement.
  • Support procurement workflows, supplier coordination, and hardware/software rollouts.
  • Manage the IT storeroom and device inventory with accuracy and accountability.
  • Maintain IT documentation, including knowledge base articles and standard operating procedures.
  • Conduct routine system checks, updates, and preventative maintenance.
  • Collaborate with internal team members and external vendors on escalated issues.
  • Support onboarding through device provisioning, system access setup, and user training.
  • Identify opportunities to improve systems, documentation, and processes.
  • Provide on-site technical support at childcare centres and support offices when required.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Information Technology, industry certifications, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience in a Level 1 or Level 2 technical support environment.
  • Familiarity with ticketing systems and remote support tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across hardware, operating systems, and common business applications.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft 365, Azure, device management, and mobile support.
  • Basic networking and system administration knowledge; Ubiquiti Unifi experience is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills and a strong customer-service mindset.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a team.

Compliance Requirements

  • Current Working with Children Check (Blue Card) — or willingness to obtain.
  • Valid Driver’s Licence.
  • Willingness to travel locally and interstate as required.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary package based on experience.
  • Flexible hybrid working arrangements.
  • Access to modern cloud platforms and technologies.
  • Ongoing opportunities to build technical capability across security, networking, and systems administration.
  • Be part of a supportive organisation that values growth, mentoring, and career progression.
  • Make a genuine impact in early childhood education through purposeful, meaningful work.
