What’s the role?

This is a part-time opportunity, located in Dakabin. 

As our new Childcare Assistant Chef, it is your role to plan and prepare nutritionally balanced meals that consists of all meals and snacks, in support of our Centre Cook. Working set hours across Monday to Friday, you will prepare menus, accommodating the dietary requirements and allergies of all children at the centre.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring that food provisions are purchased in accordance with the menu and budget requirements.
  • Ensuring that the presentation of meals is appetising and appealing to all children
  • Carrying out health, hygiene, and safety procedures according to Child Care Regulations, Occupational Safety and Health Legislations, Duty of Care and the Centre policy and procedure documents.
  • Lead and mentor other kitchen staff

Who are you?

  • A passion for food and Supporting Our Chef with Preparation and assemble of a high volume of quality freshly prepared meals.
  • Be physically fit and have the Ability to lift up to 10kg
  • Have the Ability to work on your feet in a fun fast paced environment.
  • Thrive in a passionate, positive and energetic atmosphere that fuels your drive to succeed.
  • Great communication skills and strong work ethic
  • Following the requirements of our Food Safety Program
  • Have or willing to obtain Food safety supervisor certificate.
  • Cleaning and organizing of the kitchen following strict hygiene measures
  • Strong understanding of Health and safety within a kitchen environment
  • Friendly disposition to greet our families on arrival (open Kitchen)
