Assets & Development Project Specialist

Build environments. Support teams. Travel and make real impact.

We’ve reopened this role and are looking to appoint ASAP.

This is a great opportunity for someone from an Early Childhood background who’s ready to step into something different — moving beyond a single service and working across multiple centres to help bring new environments to life.

At Journey, our centres are part of something bigger. An ecosystem of people, environments and community working together. This role plays a key part in that — helping ensure every space is ready, every team is supported, and every environment feels safe, welcoming and set up for success.

What this role looks like

You’ll be out in our services, not behind a desk.

  • Supporting new centre builds, refurbishments and upgrades
  • Working alongside Centre Leadership Teams to prepare for opening or transitions
  • Helping set up environments that align with Journey Standards
  • Solving problems as they come up and keeping things moving
  • Being hands-on, present, and connected to each service

This role comes with regular travel, giving you the chance to visit different centres, meet different teams, and see spaces come to life from the ground up.

Who this could be perfect for

This role is ideal if you:

  • Have an ECEC background and understand quality environments
  • Are ready for a new challenge outside of a single centre
  • Enjoy variety, travel, and working with different teams
  • Are organised, practical and solution-focused
  • Take pride in getting things right — especially when it comes to children’s environments

You don’t need formal project experience — we’ll support you with that. What matters most is your mindset, your energy, and your understanding of what great looks like in Early Learning.

Why this role stands out

  • Opportunity to step into a different career pathway within Journey
  • Work across multiple services and broaden your impact
  • Travel and be part of bringing new centres to life
  • Be part of a team focused on quality, safety and continuous improvement

Not sure if you’re 100% there? That’s okay.

We know it’s easy to self-select out of opportunities like this.

If you’ve got an ECEC background, care about quality, and feel excited by the idea of trying something new — we’d still encourage you to apply.

You don’t need to tick every box. We’re looking for the right mindset, curiosity, and willingness to learn just as much as experience.

Interested?

If you’ve been thinking about what’s next in your Journey — this could be it.
