Journey Early Learning is seeking an enthusiastic, passionate, and experienced Early Childhood Teacher to join our Thomastown team in a 12 month maternity leave contract with 4 days a week. You will planning, implementing, and evaluating programs, that inspire young minds and contributes to the growth and development of all children within the kindergarten age group. 

About the role: 

As the Early Childhood Teacher, your primary focus will be to provide a safe and stimulating environment which meets the social, cultural, emotional, educational and physical needs of the children. You will be responsible for the creation and execution of our educational programs that support the overall wellbeing, growth, and education of young children. 

Centre Overview: 

Journey Early Learning Thomastown is a vibrant addition to our community, purpose-built to cater for 80 children aged from six weeks to six years old. Designed to ignite creativity and adventure, Thomastown offers a variety of stimulating environments. Children can engage with interactive learning technology, sensory pathways, an outdoor eating area, and a performance stage to nurture their artistic talents. A mud kitchen encourages messy play, enhancing their sensory experiences. 

Our educators are deeply integrated into the Thomastown community, forging strong connections with local cafes, shops, the library, schools, and the train station. It's common to see our children and educators taking leisurely strolls through the neighborhood, warmly interacting with locals along the way.

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure a high level of health & safety standards are maintained at all times 

  • Create, develop and implement high quality and engaging educational programs 

  • Facilitate play-based learning environments that are responsive to children’s interest, strengths, and abilities 

  • Observing and documenting children's progress and development 

  • Fostering positive relationships with children, families and the community 

  • Develop and participate in a variety of community projects and initiatives 

  • Be part of a collaborative teaching and interactive learning environment 

 
About you: 

You are a creative and inspired Early Childhood Teacher with a passion to lead and develop high quality age specific programs and daily routines. You will be a collaborative member of the team, working to build strong relationships with Educators, children and families. 

Key skills and requirements: 

  • ACECQA Approved Bachelor's/ Master’s Degree or Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Education 

  • Current Working with Children Check 

  • Outstanding level of verbal and written communication 

  • Strong Knowledge and experience of the Early Years Learning Framework and the National Quality Standards 

  • Strong computer skills  

  • Current approved First Aid Certificate 

  • Current approved Asthma and Anaphylaxis training
